Privacy Policy
Last Updated: December 16, 2025
Maestria Interior Painting (“Maestria,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. We operate in Canada and adhere to applicable Canadian privacy laws – including the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and relevant provincial laws – to safeguard any personal information we collect. This Privacy Policy explains what information we currently collect (and what we may collect in the future), how we use and protect that information, and your rights regarding your data. By using our website (the “Site”), you agree to the practices described in this Policy.
1. Information We Collect
No Mandatory Personal Data Collection (Current): At present, you can browse our Site without providing personal information. We do not require account registration or collect personal details from visitors by default. Personal information (such as your name, email address, phone number, or address) is only obtained if you choose to provide it voluntarily – for example, if you contact us via email, phone, or a contact form to request a quote or ask a question. In such cases, we will collect and use the information you provide solely to communicate with you and fulfill your request.
Future Account Information: We plan to introduce user accounts to allow customers to check their job status. If you choose to create an account in the future, we may collect personal information during registration and use of the account, including:
-
Contact Information: Your name, email address, phone number, or other contact details (to identify you and communicate with you).
-
Account Credentials: A username or email and a password (stored securely) to enable you to log in.
-
Project Details: Information related to your painting project or services you have with us (e.g. job status updates, service history) so that you can view your project progress online.
-
Optional Information: Any preferences or additional details you choose to provide in your profile or during service inquiries (for example, your interior paint color preferences or feedback).
We will only collect such information if and when accounts are implemented, and solely for the purposes described (e.g. providing you with access to your project information).
Non-Personal Data (Usage Data): Like most websites, we automatically collect certain technical information about your visit. This usage data may include details such as your device’s Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, operating system, the pages you visit on our Site, the date and time of your visit, and the time spent on each page. This data is collected anonymously and is not used to identify you. We use it to analyze overall traffic and usage patterns, which helps us improve our website’s design and functionality. For example, we might look at which pages are most popular or if any pages are encountering errors. This information is gathered through server logs and third-party analytics tools (see Cookies and Analytics below), and it helps us ensure the Site is operating smoothly.
2. How We Use Your Information
Providing Services and Responding to You: If you contact us or request a quote, we will use the personal information you provided (e.g. your name and contact info) to respond to you and provide the information or services you requested. Similarly, if in the future you create an account, we will use your information to create and manage your account, authenticate you upon login, and display your interior painting project status or related services to you. We will also use your information to communicate with you about your projects – for example, sending updates on the progress of a painting job, scheduling details, or responding to your inquiries about our services.
Improving Our Services: We may use both personal feedback you provide and aggregated usage data to improve our offerings. For instance, if many users inquire about a particular service or feature, we might use that insight to expand our FAQs or add new services. Usage data (which does not identify you personally) helps us understand how visitors navigate our Site, allowing us to optimize page content, navigation, and site performance.
Marketing and Newsletters: Maestria Interior Painting is interior-painting focused, and we do not currently run a newsletter or mass marketing email campaign. We will not send you promotional emails unless you have opted in. In the future, if you do opt in to receive updates or a newsletter, we may use your email to send you news about our services, such as special interior painting offers or tips. You will always have the ability to opt out of such communications (see Your Rights & Choices below). We do not sell your personal information to third parties for marketing.
Analytics and Advertising: We use non-identifying information (and may in the future use profile information from accounts) for analytics and possibly limited advertising purposes. For example, we might use Google Analytics to understand how users find and use our Site, which in turn helps us improve our marketing strategy. We may also use aggregated information to tailor advertisements about our services to a broad audience (for instance, showing ads to people interested in home improvement). If we implement advertising or retargeting (showing Maestria ads on other websites or social media after you visit our Site), we will update this Policy to reflect that. Any such advertising would likely use cookies or similar tracking (see below), and no sensitive personal data (like your name or contact info) would be shared with advertising networks without your consent.
Legal Compliance and Protection: We may use or disclose your information if required to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes (such as a court order or lawful request by authorities). We may also use/disclose information where necessary to enforce our website’s Terms and Conditions, to detect or investigate fraud or security issues, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Maestria, our customers, or others. For example, if someone attempted to compromise our website security, we might use IP logs to identify the source and could provide that information to law enforcement if appropriate.
3. Cookies and Analytics
Our Site may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience and gather usage data. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device when you visit a website. We use cookies for several reasons, outlined below:
-
Essential Functions: Some cookies are necessary for the Site to function properly – for example, if we introduce a login feature, a cookie might keep you logged in as you navigate between pages.
-
Preferences: We might use cookies to remember your preferences (such as language selection or other settings) to personalize your experience.
-
Analytics: We use third-party analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) that employ cookies to collect non-identifying information about Site usage (e.g. which pages are visited, how long users stay, and how users found our Site). This helps us understand user behavior and improve our Site’s content and layout.
-
Advertising (Future Use): If we engage in advertising or retargeting campaigns, cookies may be used by third-party ad platforms to show our ads on other websites you visit. For instance, if we run Google Ads, a cookie might help Google display a Maestria Interior Painting ad to you later. We will not share personally identifying details for advertising purposes without your consent – any such targeting would be based on cookie data or aggregated audience segments.
You have choices regarding cookies. When you first visit our Site, you may see a notification about our use of cookies (if required). You can set your web browser to refuse some or all cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being sent. However, please note: if you disable cookies entirely, some features of the Site may not function properly (for example, login or preference features might not work).
In addition to cookies, our Site or emails may employ other tracking technologies like web beacons or pixel tags. These are tiny graphic images or code snippets that can track actions such as whether an email was opened or whether a user visited a particular page. We use these tools to gather statistical information about our outreach and website performance (e.g. counting how many users visited a new blog post, or which email announcements were most effective). This information helps us improve our content and engagement strategies.
Third-Party Analytics and Tools: The third-party service providers (like Google Analytics) that we use for analytics set their own cookies to perform their services. The information generated by these cookies (e.g. your truncated IP address, browser info, and browsing activity on our Site) will be transmitted to and stored by the service provider (Google’s servers, for example, which may be outside of Canada). These providers use the information to compile reports on website activity for us. We do not allow third-party analytics companies to use your personal information for their own purposes; they are only authorized to provide services to us.
If you want to opt out of Google Analytics, Google provides a browser add-on for this purpose. You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings to prevent data collection via cookies (remember, this might affect some functionality on our Site). For more details on how to manage cookies and similar technologies, please see our Cookies notice (if available) or adjust your browser settings.
4. How We Protect and Store Your Data
Data Security: We take reasonable measures to protect the personal information in our custody or control. These measures include technical, administrative, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. For example, if and when user accounts are introduced, we will store passwords in hashed (encrypted) form, use secure (HTTPS) connections for data transfer on the Site, and implement access controls to restrict who within our organization can access personal data. We also maintain up-to-date security software and monitoring to protect against unauthorized access, malware, and other online threats. While we strive to protect your data, please note that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security of information. You share information with us at your own risk, but be assured we employ industry best practices to minimize risks.
Data Storage Location: Currently, since we do not actively collect personal data through the Site (apart from any information you may send us via inquiries), we do not maintain a user database. Any emails or communications you send are stored on our secure email servers. In the future, if account functionality is added, personal data may be stored on servers or cloud services provided by third-party hosting providers. We will choose reputable providers with strong security practices. These servers may be located in Canada; however, they could be in another country (for example, if we use a cloud service based in the United States). If your data is stored or processed outside of Canada, it may be subject to the laws of that foreign jurisdiction (for instance, data stored in the U.S. could be accessed by U.S. authorities under their laws). Regardless of location, we will ensure that any service providers handling personal data on our behalf are bound by confidentiality and security obligations consistent with this Policy and Canadian privacy standards.
Retention of Data: We will retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. In practice, this means: if you are a customer, we may retain your contact information and project records for as long as you remain a customer and for a reasonable period thereafter (in case you have follow-up inquiries or for warranty purposes related to our services). If you create an account, we will retain the information while your account is active. If your account is closed or becomes inactive, we will delete or anonymize the personal data associated with it after a set period, unless we need to keep it longer to comply with legal obligations (for example, maintaining transaction records for tax purposes) or legitimate business needs. We periodically review the data we hold and securely dispose of information that is no longer needed. For instance, web server logs and analytics data are typically kept only for a short period (to analyze trends) before being deleted or anonymized.
5. Your Rights and Choices
We believe in being transparent and giving you control over your personal information. Under Canadian privacy laws, you have certain rights regarding your data, which we fully honor:
-
Right to Access: You have the right to request information about whether we hold any personal information about you, and to obtain a copy of that information. We will provide you with access to your personal data that we have, as required by law, typically within 30 days of your written request (or inform you if we need more time). This allows you to know exactly what data we have collected about you (if any) and how it has been used or disclosed.
-
Right to Correction: If any of your personal information that we have is inaccurate or incomplete, you have the right to request that we correct or update it. For example, if you change your phone number or notice we misspelled your name, you can ask us to fix it. We will correct any verified inaccuracies promptly.
-
Right to Withdraw Consent: Where we rely on your consent to process your personal information (for instance, if you signed up for an email newsletter or agreed to receive promotional updates), you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. If you withdraw consent, we will stop the specific use of your information that you previously agreed to. For example, if you no longer wish to receive marketing emails, you can unsubscribe using the link provided in those emails or contact us to be removed from the mailing list. If you have an account with us in the future, you may also delete that account (which withdraws your consent for us to continue holding those details, except as necessary for legal compliance). Please note that withdrawing consent for us to use certain data may mean we cannot provide you with some services (e.g. if you withdraw consent for us to use your login credentials, we cannot maintain your account). We will inform you if such is the case.
-
Right to Deletion (“Right to be Forgotten”): You may request that we delete your personal information from our records, subject to certain exceptions. If you are a customer and no longer wish us to retain your information, contact us and we will remove the personal data that we are not required to keep. (For example, we might need to retain records of completed transactions for a certain period for legal or tax reasons, but we can delete information that is not legally required.)
-
Cookies Choices: As discussed in the Cookies and Analytics section, you have the ability to control cookies and tracking. You can adjust your browser settings to refuse cookies or delete them. You can also opt out of certain third-party data collection (e.g. Google Analytics) as described above. Additionally, most advertising networks offer ways to opt out of targeted advertising (for example, through the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada’s opt-out tool or your device settings for mobile ads).
-
Non-Discrimination: We will not deny you any service or charge you different prices simply because you exercise your privacy rights. Your interior painting service quality and pricing will not be affected by whether you choose to share certain personal information with us, except insofar as we need certain data to actually perform the service (obviously, we need your address to come paint your interior!).
To exercise any of your rights, please contact us (see Contact Us below). For access, correction, or deletion requests, we will take steps to verify your identity (to ensure we don’t disclose or alter someone else’s information improperly). Verification may involve asking you to provide information that matches our records or identification. We will respond to your request within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law. Note that some rights may be subject to exceptions; if we cannot fulfill a certain request, we will explain why (for example, if you ask us to delete a record that we must keep for legal reasons, we will inform you of that obligation).
Complaints: If you have a concern or complaint about how we handle your personal information, we encourage you to contact us so we can address it. We will do our best to resolve the issue. If you are not satisfied with our response, you have the right to file a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial privacy commissioner. We will provide you with the contact information for the appropriate regulator upon request.
6. Third-Party Services and Links
Our Site may contain links to third-party websites or services, such as our social media pages (e.g., a Facebook or Instagram link) or resources we think might be helpful. Please be aware that this Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party sites. Each external site will have its own privacy policies and practices, and we have no control over how they handle information. For example, if you click a link to a paint supplier’s website or a home décor blog, any information you provide to those sites is not governed by our policy. We recommend that you read the privacy policies of any website you visit after leaving our Site.
Additionally, if we use third-party service providers to assist us (such as an online scheduling tool, an analytics provider, or a payment processor), those third parties will only receive the information necessary to perform their functions. They are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify. For instance, if we partner with a scheduling app for appointments, that app might handle your name and appointment details to schedule a painting job, but they can’t use your info for anything else.
7. Children’s Privacy
Our services and Site are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 13 without parental consent. Interior painting services are intended for property owners or adults, and while families may visit our Site, we do not target content toward children. If you are under 13, please do not submit any personal information to us. If we become aware that we have unintentionally received personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child may have provided personal information to us, please contact us immediately so that we can remove the information.
(Note: If the age of consent for data in your province is higher than 13, we will adhere to that. For example, in some jurisdictions, parental consent may be required for collecting information from anyone under 16.)
8. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update or revise this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. When we update the Policy, we will change the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we may also provide a more prominent notice – for example, a banner on our website or an email notification (if appropriate and we have your email address). We encourage you to review this Policy periodically to stay informed about how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of the Site after any changes to this Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you should discontinue use of the Site and, if applicable, deactivate your account.
